Description

Actually, I only wanted to get the small Newton out for testing, but after I had fitted it with a new motor focus, I wanted to take a few pictures right away.

I started with the Whirlpool Galxie M51. In front of the meanwhile moonless background, it already comes into its own. The seeing, which is not at its best here anyway, remains quite poor this winter.

However, I noticed once again how good my good (3 years) old EQ6-R still is. Of course, it manages the small baby Newton without any problems, but I recognise from the low RMS values in PHD2 that the bearings , belts and grease are still in good shape, and that with my 10" Newton, the weight, balance, vibrations... play a very important role in whether a session works or not.

Maybe a fixed installation site will become a reality this year.
