Description

IC 5067 is the dense molecular ridge featured here – part of the Pelican Nebula, IC 5070 – from which a long dust finger protrudes. At the tip of the finger is Herbig-Haro (HH) 555, a bipolar jet of stellar wind, resembling a mustache, blasting out from a hidden proto-star, impacting the surrounding dust and gas.

Sixteen other HH objects riddle the scene according to the Simbad astronomical database, each an indicator of a newly forming star. Imaged in 2018 and 2019, processed now.

I collected RGB data as well, but I think the monochrome H-a image best shows the drama of this scene. Final image is a crop; B is the full-frame and C shows HH objects identified from Simbad.
