Description

NGC 4945 is a peculiar elliptical galaxy about 13 million light-years away in the constellation of Centaurus (the Centaur) and is roughly the size of our own Milky Way Galaxy. It was discovered from Australia in 1826 by Scottish astronomer James Dunlop. Another galaxy NGC 4976 can be seen above left of 4945.
