Description

Following a ten-month journey to the Didymos system, DART collided with Dimorphos on 26 September 2022 at a speed of around 15,000 miles per hour (24,000 kilometres per hour). The collision successfully decreased Dimorphos' orbital period by 32 minutes. In doing so, a lot of dust was ejected from Dimorphos which became a comet-like tail at about 60 degrees with the direction of movement of the system.
