Description

Scutum Star Cloud

Credit: Giuseppe Donatiello

The large bright section of the Milky Way in this picture is known as the Scutum Star Cloud because it is located in the constellation Scutum. It is one of the brightest sections of the Milky Way, and it is easy to see with the naked eye on a clear summer night from a dark location.

The small, very bright patch to the center, is Messier 11 open cluster, the Wild Duck Cluster.

200mm f/4 telephoto lens on Canon EOS 4000D / 600 sec
