Description

Time to make the switch back to the SCT. I had a very nice run with the FRA400 but galaxy season is coming.

Here we have an attempt at the King Cobra Cluster or M67. I've got some kinks to work out with the SCT but not too bad after a few months idle.

This open cluster is located about 2,600 ly away in Cancer. Messier-objects.com has an article about this one where they write that this is a rather old open cluster with an age of somewhere between 3.2 and 5 billion years. Some believe that because of the morphology of this cluster, and with as many as 100 Sun-like analogs in terms of metallicity and age, that this may be the cluster from where our sun came.

Anyway, I wanted to try to go fairly deep with this and despite some flaws, I still like the image and I hope you will too...

CS and be well.
