Description

NGC 891 is an edge-on spiral galaxy in the constellation Andromeda that is sometimes called the "Flying Saucer" galaxy. While this galaxy is better imaged with a larger aperture telescope, this widefield shot was taken with the Esprit 100ED refractor at f/3.6. This image is a crop of a larger field that included Abell 347, which I uploaded as a separate image. While the refractor did well on the details inthe galaxy, even at the native 2.6" per pixel (undersampled), the star halos are a little too bloated for my tastes.
