Description

Deer Lick Galaxy Group - NGC7331 - 7335 - 7336 - 7337 - 7340 - 7327

In the days I spent under the amazing sky of the Dolomites (Braies - Italy) just before mid-August I mainly dedicated the session for visual deep-sky observation, which is the most delightful activity with a large diameter Dobsonian under a sky of that quality. One of the objects that I most enjoyed to observe was Stephan's Quintet, which I did not identify immediately. Initially I was looking at a beautiful galaxy, very bright, with at least two other companions nearby, but the picture did not correspond to the Quintet. Studying the map I realized that instead it was the group object of the photo, and this then allowed me to identify quite easily the Quintet, beautiful through the ocular. During one of the two nights I dedicated to imaging I decided to shoot this galaxy group because it is very beautiful and is a little less photographed than the Quintet itself. Unfortunately I didn't have time to get the color but the next new moon, weather permitting, I'll complete the captures.

Description: A few days ago I presented the luminance of this nice group of galaxies. This is the color version I obtained with my ASI294MC camera under my sub-urban light polluted sky. Much less resolution and quality respect to the luminance captured under an amazing SQM 21,6 sky at 2000 m altitude from the Dolomites in the north of Italy.
