Description

M109 is a magnitude 10.6 galaxy in Ursa Major with a prominent central bar, and at 85 million light years away the most distant object in the Messier catalog by far. It was also conspicuously absent from my photos until now.  I tried shooting this one without the focal reducer to take advantage of the full focal length on a 14" scope, however Pixinsight has some trouble registering the larger stars and I lost a few frames. Pretty happy with the result, though.
