Description

NGC 281, AKA the Pacman Nebula, alone in a sea of stars, 32000 to be more accurate. This is the second of 4 wide field images taken at the Eldorado Star Party with my Canon 6D and 70-200mm lens at f5.6. NGC 281 shares the field of view with Gamma Cassiopeia and the ghost nebula, the faint galaxy IC 10, and many NGC clusters. Reflection nebula VdB 1 is near the top and Sh2-173 is the reddish circle upper left. I combined 41 (120sec) exposures taken at ISO 3200 on a Astro Trac mount and portable pier unguided. The image was calibrated and processed in PixInsight.
