Description

Another major project of the Winter was Sh2-224. I tried this target two years ago, but was unable to get anything out of it. I started to take 5 minutes exposures but realized very soon that those are insufficient, especially for the OIII channel. So I switched to 10 minutes exposure time and kept on going for some time. Compared to the Dolphin nebula, this target is more accessible for me; hence I was able to collect a total of 37 hours, during a really nice long stretch of clear skies around the New Year.
I had to bump up the nebula quite a bit; I am really not such a fan of doing this, but without it would have been a very faint result.
Sh2-224 is a very faint supernova remnant located approximately 14,700 LYs away from us.
