Description

Experimenting with crops on the RedCat 51. For this image I did 2x drizzle and then a resize of the image to about 35% which makes the pixel size match the Rayleigh limit. Used just two narrowband channels (H alpha and OIII) this time.

Process:
  1. Drizzle (2x) on region in both Ha and O
  2. Resample to about 35% of size, which approximates the Rayleigh limit
  3. For both channels, generate a PSF image, split into stars and starless with StarXTerminator, deconvolve and recombine
  4. Autostretch and delinearize
  5. Run StarXTerminator again on both to extract stars in screened mode
  6. Shrink stars in OIII (MorphologicalTransformation) to match size of Ha stars
  7. Combine stars and starless image seperately (HOO)
  8. Export as 16-bit TIFs
  9. Combine stars and starless in Photoshop (screen overlay)
  10. Camera Raw filter (mainly light & color mix) on starless to dial in colors
  11. Small saturation/vibrance tweaks for stars, minimum filter to slightly shrink stars (0.3)
  12. Various masks to neutralize background
  13. Profit?
