Description

I almost wrote the most famous intro by Gary: This Astrobin-Debut Object is ... , but I knew that Jerry finished his complete Sharpless catalog, so it could not have been. Searching for Sh2-310 does show some images, but none of them were actually showing the nebula the way I captured it. But ... I do understand why this is so, there is really nothing dramatic in this nebula. I chose this target since it was one of the objects that I could squeeze into my main target sequences, and I always try to use every second of clear skies. And with such a low declination, there is not a lot of imaging time for me with my restricted views.
All in all though I thought it was a very interesting target since I had no reference, which was something new for me, did not know what to expect. In aftermath, I should have taken RGB images with an Hα addition only, I believe this would have popped the nebula in a better way. There is almost ... no no ... there is no OIII visible (at least with my setup) and just a little bit of SII.
Version A shows the wide field image, while Version B shows the most interesting part of Sh2-310.
Enjoy the holiday season and stay safe!
