Description

English below, followed by Portuguese:

This image showcases the southeastern area of Mare Fecunditatis, edged by the big Langrenus, Vendelinus and Petavius crater, with a huge and prominent rimae complex on the latter.

More to the terminator zone, La Pérouse shows beautifully its edges, with its interior already immersed in deep shadows. Along the terminator, several mountain peaks cast exquisite triangular shadows and the region's topography is clearly seen.

In the opposite direction, i.e., to the bottom of the image, back to Mare Fecunditatis, Dorsa Geicke and Dorsa Mawson are visible, although sunlight angle of incidence is still too high to provide a more satisfactory contrast for those low features.

Between the aforementioned dorsa and Langrenus, lies a trio of shallow craters that represent one of my favourite sights on the Moon: Naonobu, Atwood and Billharz. In addition to Langrenus and Petavius, they were in a very favourable time for detailed observing, considering the contrast provided by solar illumination.
