Description

This object is an HII emission nebula located 13,000 light years away in the constellation of Cygnus, at a declination of +50 degrees. The nebula width is 20 arc-minutes in our apparent view, which corresponds to a diameter of about 75 light years.

The nebula looks like a dimmer version of the Cocoon Nebula (Sh2-125), which is nearby. The foreground star field is bright and colorful. My favorite part of the image is the numerous dark dust lanes which cut across the nebula.
