Description

I am not so sure about this one. I imaged M 42 several times with my RC. Of course this image totally benefits from its larger FoV, but when it comes to the nebula itself the images taken with the RC are showing more detail. Anyway, the outcome of this imaging session is good, i am satisfied with the image: The seeing was really poor, therefor the autoguiding was not so good. I combined the different exposure times in a HDR image and tried not to compress the dynamic range to much. Comparing this to my last M 42 taken with the RC and compressed more aggressive it looks like the colors are not so intense, but that is okay for me. I can not decide which 'look' i like more, this one ore the more colored one. Oh, and if you don't know which of my M 42 images i am referring to, it is this one:

M 42 taken with RC

[Edit]: To produce the HDR i stacked two images: One containing ALL subs, one containing only the short ones. I start to believe that this was not a good idea. I will reprocess this image, but this time with one image containing only the LONG ones and one containing only the SHORT ones. Maybe this will help to improve the result? (not sure, we will see)

[Edit2]: Indeed, the variant where long and short integration times separated lead to more intense colors and a 'cleaner' look. I think i like it better.
