Description

Lion Nebula (SH2-132)

The Lion Nebula, catalogued as Sharpless 132, in the constellation Cepheus, is an emission nebula around 10,000 ly away. It contains two ionizing Wolf Rayet stars and two dark nebulae (LDN 1150 & 1154).

This is my first mono project using the ASI294mm-Pro, processed in APP using the SHO palette (with modifications in PS). I've taken some time taking good calibration frames for each filter and gain setting (6 sets of Flat/Dark Flats and 2 sets of Darks) and I'm happy with the results from the initial integration. I'm still developing my processing workflow, including better ways to handle noise reduction and star control (using StarXTerminator). I have noticed the problem with the AI5 version of StarXTterminator introducing smooth, noise-free patches around stars and await the update for PS with AI6 which apparently solves this problem.
