Description

I finally went into the unknown and tried a first LRGB monochrome image from my light polluted backyard. I did not use a light pollution filter, pretty concerned by the risk of increasing the FWHM, especially when imaging a galaxy. While this is a mix of traveller data (only around 2h per channel) coming from a 4/5 Bortle zone, I am really pleased to see that LRGB is possible from my backyard. Gradients are pretty significant especially for luminance and the processing is tough, but I think that the final result is not so bad. The Zwo filters are pretty uneven and the B filter produces really bloated stars, so probably I'll have to change them one day. The stars were really hard to process. I tried not to stretch the galaxies too much in order to keep as much structure as possible.

I introduced an hour of Ha, which is present mainly in the arms of M66, but all the galaxies have some signal, NGC 3628 the least.

The Triplet is a classic group of galaxies from the Leo constellation, situated at "only" 35 millions light-years away. It is situated near the hind legs of the Lion.
