Description

This is a first light picture for my ASI1600, so there are many things here I hope to do better.

Coming from a CCD camera the Atik 460, the suggested 30 to 60 second subs for the stars seemed crazy to me. So I did 90 seconds and ended up with overexposed stars! I also did 90 seconds luminance subs which I did not even use (I used the Ha instead).

This HaRGB is made up of:

Blue 41 90sec subs

Green 50 90sec subs

Red 50 90sec subs

Ha 60 240sec subs

I love using camera lenses, so I connected my Nikon 200mm to the filter wheel for the first light shot.

A few take-aways:

The ASI1600mm does not seem to use bias frames.

90 second exposures for the RGB are too long - 30 seconds may be better in my skies

Cover up all open holes in the filterwheel (see my photo Boris the spider)
