Description

Is there a better way of spending your birthday eve than taking pictures of celestial objects? Sure not! The night of April 1st I was gifted with some clear(ish) skyes...I had to dribble, low clouds, a few rooftops and LED streetlights hence in the end I had only about 1 hour of integration for the R and B channels. I had to use a synthetic G channel because since I bought the SHO narrowband filters I don't have any more space on the filterwheel!

M3 is a globular cluster containing ca. 500.000 stars discovered by Messier in 1764. It was initially classified as a starless nebula and only in 1784 the German-British astronomer Herschel recognised its nature of cluster of stars.
