Description

AP155, QHY268C, Mach1

This by far is the longest integration on my Galaxy Safari, and the most difficult to dig out the faint details.  I tried different integrations on 7 different nights over the last 2 months and finally settled on 600 sec subs. I think it might have been ok with less total integration time, but the seeing was good the last 3 nights so I just let it rip. There are a lot of great images of this galaxy with large telescopes.

NGC3718 is a twisted spiral that's shape is probably due to it's interaction with NGC3729 (lower right) and  the Hickson Compact Group 56, which consists of five interacting galaxies. (top)
