Description

Here's an image of the Jellyfish Nebula (IC 443) taken Feb 24-26.

It's HaRGB with (after blinking) Blue 44@240s=2.9h, Green 33@240s=2.2h, Red 40@240s=2.7h & Ha 28@480s=3.7h. Total 11.5 hours of exposure from my house in Ladera (f/5.6105mm WO refractor, ZWO ASI1600mm pro camera @-20C, Atlas Pro mount).

Combination of PixInsight for the basic RGB and Ha processing, then layers in Photoshop to combine the RGB and HA and various contrast adjustments. I merged in a 2nd less-stretched and somewhat desaturated RGB image at the position of Propus, the bright star (Mag 3.3) to the left of the nebula.

The nebula, a supernova remnant, has a nice write-up at https://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/chandra/what-spawned-the-jellyfish-nebula.html
