Description

IC342, also known as the Hidden Galaxy, is an expansive and bright spiral galaxy located in the constellation Camelopardalis, about 10 million light years from the Milky way Galaxy. Despite its brightness and size, it is hidden from clear view and redden by zillions of stars, dust clouds, and cosmic gas present along the plane of the Milky Way Galaxy. Indeed, its shape is barely captured in sub exposures, which mostly show an amazing number of stars, barely outlining its arms and its bright center. Its arms contain a multiplicity of pink star-forming regions and it is thought to have experienced a recent burst of star formation. It is also believed to be close enough to our own Milky Way galaxy to have gravitationally influenced its evolution.
