Description

This nebula in Perseus has no name, apart from its catalog numbers NGC 1491 and LBN 704. I felt bad for it, so I spent the last three nights imaging it.

My wife Kerri thinks it looks like an upside-down ant head. So, we're calling it the "ant-head nebula." Let's see if it catches on. What name would you give it?

I wish I could tell you more about it, but there's very little information out there. Look closely and you'll see a "bubble" in the middle, probably formed by the stellar wind of the hot star that's ionizing these gases.

The "final" image is my attempt to approximate natural colors from narrowband data. You'll also find SHO and HOS palette interpretations in the revisions.
