Description

My first narrow-band image. And I have to say I am very proud of it!

It‘s a composition of H-alpha and OIII with a total of 3h imaging time over two nights.

I remember the start of my journey in February 2021, when I discovered that it is possible to image a deep sky object with just a DSLR camera and a lense, which got me instantly hooked! The image taken back then of the Orion nebula was not great, but I knew that this will become my new passion.

Fast forward, after lots of weeks waiting for the delivery of the gear, I started with a test image of the Soul Nebula in H-Alpha. Man, I love the new QHY268m and these 3nm filters from Antlia! The subs straight out of the camera are stunning!

But many of you know, how much effort goes in a single image. All the little things that did not work at the beginning... And there are still many things to improve, like the star shape and the autofocus routine in Nina shows anything, but the curve you expect it to be, but hey, that's for another night...

Hope you like it!

Technical stuff:

19 x 300s H-alpha

17 x 300s OIII

10 x 300s Darks

No Flats, no Bias frames ( I know...)
