Description

Area of the pole or tongue of Óðins vagn (wagon) consisting of the stars Alkaid, Mizar/Alcor and Alioth in more common constellation name of Plough, Large Bear or Big Dipper. I learn vagn name from my 95 year old father who as a child learned Old Norse names for constellations with the 7 stars forming a wagon.

This is 27 x 180 seconds with Nex3N and 35mm Sony lens. I quite pleased with how this turn out, is easily longest time I ever spend on processing (note to self this should continue).

I choose this area as relatively dark to north from my garden and is not blocked by giant oak tree. When I view in binoculars I not really see much so was very surprised at number of stars in image and that Messier objects could be seen.
