      Description

I have never seen a comet as bright as this before!
Absolutely amazing is the amount of dust and vapor this comet ejects every second: 10 tons! Curious is the red part of the ion tail, reported to be caused by sodium.

A very similar photograph of mine was rewarded by being shortlisted in the Astronomy Photographer of the Year Award 2021.

This is a stack of 100 exposures of 30 seconds each. Taken on July 14th 2020 in rural Lower Austria with a Nikon D750 and a 135mm Sigma Art lens at f/3.5 and ISO 1600. Tracking with Astrotrac; processed with Astro Pixel Processor and Photoshop.
