Description

[EN] On the night of January 3rd, astronomer Gregory J. Leonard working at the Mount Lemmon Observatory near Tucson Arizona discovered the first long-period comet of the year, C/2021 A1 Leonard. This morning, I could see it shining (not yet with the naked eye) in the constellation Bootes at a currenct distance of 45 million km (2.52 light minutes)

[NL] In de nacht van 3 januari ontdekte astronoom Gregory J. Leonard, werkzaam bij het Mount Lemmon Observatory in Tucson Arizona, de eerste niet-periodieke  komeet van het jaar, C/2021 A1 Leonard. Deze ochtend, kon ik ze zien schitteren (nog niet met het blote oog) in het sterrenbeeld Ossenhoeder op een afstand van 45 miljoen km (2.52 lichtminuten)
