Description

A year ago I worked several nights to capture the image of the jellyfish nebula, in Gemini (IC443). Despite this, the signal was weak and with intense gradients. I was about to delete all the shots. This rainy month in Spain I decided to go back to work. With Pxinsight's NormalizeScaleGradient script I was able to improve the gradients. The new StarNet2 allowed me to work much better with the non-linear masters of the IDAS and L-Extreme filtered shots. The luminance comes almost exclusively from the R channels. The chrominance comes from 65% L-Extreme and 35% IDAS. The G and B channels were added to produce a false OIII, which was used in the NBLRGB script. I might be able to get better catches now, but I'm happy I took advantage of seven nights' work a year ago. IC443 is a beautiful remnant of supernova in Gemini. Its expansion is not symmetrical due to the encounter with the molecular clouds that surround it. The gas cloud at the upper right is the emission nebula Sh 2-249. It is curious that there is another "Medusa Nebula" in Gemini, but its name refers to the mythological character, not the marine animal. It is a planetary nebula (Abell 21).
