Description

This is the 3rd light with my "discovery machine", the TS Hypergraph 150F2.8, taken from Monoceros. I pointed it to the so called Christmas Tree Cluster and the Cone Nebula tonight. As the field is some 4° wide there is more stuff available to bring into the field of view than these 2 objects only.

So, we can find the folllowing objects in the image:

- LDN 1613 (Cone Nebula)

- NGC 2264 (Christmas Tree Cluster)

- NGC 2261 (Hubble's Variable Nebula, lower right)

- Trumpler 5 (the heap of ambers on the right)

- LDN 1608 (DN with red on the upper left)

- NGC 2259 (Star Cluster on the upper left)

- LDN 1610 (DN left of that dark "Y"structure)

- LDN 1609 (DN top of that dark "Y" structure)

There seems to be much more in the full frame but, the image I am showing today is a crop of only some 2° of the full field which is 4°.

The exposure time was 120 minutes, divided into 40 frames of 3 minutes at iso400. No filter was used and the Moon is at 50% which had an impact on contrast, but hey, I'm happy already that I had 2 days of clear skies at all since the last 6 weeks...
