Description

M101 is a monster galaxy - 170.000 ly wide, 2 times wider than our own galaxy, the Milky Way.

Located approx. 23 million ly away from us.

Captured with a C8EdgeHD and OAG, with a relatively low number of subframes: during an automated capture session, the scope lost the guide star when flipping at the meridian

This is the joy of shooting with such a long focal distance!

Removing the satellite trai was attempted, but at the expense of much needed signal. I thus left it there not to over-process the image.

Hope you like it, comments appreciated.
