Description

IC 5146, also known as the Cocoon nebula, is a magnitude 10 reflection/emission nebula in Cygnus. It is about 3300 light years away and is around 15 light years across. Some data was gathered in 2010 and more in September of 2019

Date: Sep 2010 and Sep 2019

Location: New Ringgold PA

Optics: Hyperion 12.5 inch f/9 2532mm FL and Celestron EdgeHD-11 at 2760mm FL

Mount: Paramount ME and Paramount MX

Camera/Filters: SBIG STL 11000 camera Baader filters

Guiding: integral guiding chip controlled by Maxim CCD

Exposure: LRGBHa: Luminance: 54x10 minutes unbinned; RGBHa: Bin2 - R-64x5 min, G-62x5 min, B-68x5 min, HA-37x10 min 31.3 hours 285 subs at average of 396 sec

Processing: Image acquisition using CCD Autopilot. Initial processing was done using Maxim DL with subsequent processing with Photoshop. Some HA was added to the Red channel.
