Description

The Soul Nebula (Sh2-199) is an emission nebula located in Cassiopeia. Several small open clusters are embedded in the nebula.  A small emission nebula, IC 1871 is present just left of the top of the head.  The Soul Nebula is estimated to lie approximately 6,000 light-years from Earth

This image is a close-up of the "head" of the Soul Nebula.  Depending on your perspective, the nebula looks like a buffalo or a fetus.
