Description

Due the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, we Italian amateur astronomers cannot have better skies to look at. I wanted to try to photograph the night sky from the backyard.

Leo's triplet, also known as the M66 group, is formed by the spiral galaxies M66 (left), M65 (bottom) and NGC 3628 (top right).

These galaxies are found, as can be deduced from the name, in the constellation of Leo about 35 million light years away from us.

They were discovered in the 18th century by Herschel, Messier and Pierre Méchain.
