Description

Rho Ophiuci is a cloud complex active in the forming of dozens of stars.  At only 460ly distance it is one of the closest to Earth.  The star formation, variety of colors, proximity of the Milky Way, and the three primary "fingers" of dark nebula stretching out from it, make it a very interesting and beautiful part of the night sky.

This site was the darkest I have been able to shoot from and I really like how there was no glow from ground lighting.  It was unguided and I only could achieve 30sec exposures using the on-camera sequencer.  I wanted to go 2min and will try that again with an off-camera sequencer.  I'm interested in getting the fainter dust and gas in the area with the longer exposures and then learn how to process it.

70 mm focal length.
