Description

The screen photo shows the final collimation of the 24" RC optics. I used a laser collimator for the initial alignment of the optical train.  I then used CCD Inspector in its de-focused collimation mode, which provides for real-time adjustments.  Shown is the de-focused star using a 2 second exposure binned 3x3, with an accuracy of about 1.1 arc secs.   It requires fairly stable seeing conditions to get a good collimation using this method.   Each time I do a new collimation, I also need to redo the TPoint Model.

This image of M8  "The Lagoon Nebula", is a test, after re-collimating the 24" RC.  I plan on making some final tweaks to the collimation, then acquire data for an upcoming LRGB image.   Thus far, I am encouraged by the improved collimation to the RC optics.
