Description

20210321 - (ORI) M42 Orion Nebula - Spring break, or how I started enjoying a life in astrophotography again.

What was the experience
As a very young kid, all those years ago, I was passionate about astronomy, and even ventured a bit into astrophotography (cameras being hard to get as a young kid those days) using a simple SLR and B/W negative film, attaching my camera with rubber bands to a Polarex 60/900 scope I had bought with saved up money.
Growing up, the treadmill of work and ambition came, and I had put my passion aside and all but forgotten how much I was in love with the stars ✨
After years ‘in the dark’, my former astronomy-club organised a reunion, with all initial members. This has re-ignited my passion, and with the changes in digital technology, I’ve plunged head-first into the vastness of space to try and make up for the lost years.
This image, M42, was my first ‘new’ image I took with a DSLR, simple zoom-lens, simple tracking, as a new start on my learning adventure, earlier this year. Although the initial data was rather bleak, with some polishing through the new skills in processing, it turned out better than expected and helped me to believe my passion for astronomy still lives on.
