Description

NGC 1514, a.k.a. the Crystal Ball Nebula, is a planetary nebula locates in the Constellation Taurus, along the constellation border with Perseus. With a mere apparent dimension of ~ 2', it presents a sophisticated structure, consisting with layers of shells surrounding a central bright star. It is also in one of the dust-iest areas in the sky; with the presence of nearby Taurus Molecular Cloud, it has its share of IFN flowing across the frame, adding a hint of mystery to the "crystal ball".

After a successful run with our dual-refractor setup which produced 104 images over the course of two years (all can be found in the below hashtag), we made a trip November this year and upgrade the imaging scope to a beautiful 14" DSI TrueRC. Tuning an RC is something we have very limited experience with, and grantly the scope isn't in its 100% yet, but we finally at least get it up there, and we had fun wrestling with it... Can't wait to get my hands on the 1st set of data, and fingers crossed this is the first of many.
