Description

This faint Abell PN, also known as PK025-11.1, is located 5600 light years away in the constellation of Sagittarius at a declination of -12 degrees.  It is a magnitude 16 PN which spans 1.7 arc-minutes in our apparent view.  This corresponds to a width of 2.5 light years.

OIII dominates the signal in this nebula.  The blue progenitor star at the center is clearly visible.  It looks to me like we are looking side-on into the thick torus region.   In that case, the bipolar regions extend left and right, and are already blown out.
