Description

Cassiopeia A (Cas A) supernova remnant, one of the best studied objects in the sky at all wavelengths, but rarely imaged by amateur astronomers due to its small size and low brightness. This image is a combination of narrowband (OIII and SII) and RGB data taken over several nights in September-November 2019 with 250mm f/4 Lacerta Photonewton and ASI183MM Pro camera. The individual narrowband and broadband exposures were taken at camera gain 200. To reduce the effect of bad seeing, final RGB images were constructed from a series of short (30 s) exposures with FWHM<3.0". The synthetic luminance was produced using SII, OIII and RGB data. R and B color channels are a blend of the broadband and narrowband images: R(R and SII) and B(B and OIII).

OIII: 47x300s (Gain 200, bin 1x1)

SII: 47x300s (Gain 200, bin 1x1)

R: 240x30s (Gain 200, bin 1x1)

G: 220x30s (Gain 200, bin 1x1)

B: 256x30s (Gain 200, bin 1x1)

Total exposure: 13.8 hours
