Description

🌞🔭 Discover the mesmerizing mosaic of the Sun's chromosphere! 🌞🔭📅 On August 1st and 2nd, 2023, we captured two stunning images of the Sun using the hydrogen alpha filter. These images reveal the chromosphere, a layer located above the photosphere, at a distance of at least 2000 to 3000 km from the Sun's surface.💫 To obtain the complete disc of the chromosphere, we meticulously crafted a breathtaking mosaic consisting of 10 panels. This intricate mosaic allows us to witness the full dynamic range of this fascinating solar layer.🌀 The chromosphere is a constantly moving and ever-changing region, exhibiting a wide array of breathtaking phenomena. On August 1st, you can observe sinuous filaments, loop structures, and magnificent prominences rising above the solar surface. These prominences, composed of hot gases and plasma, can reach impressive sizes, forming stunning solar crowns.🌡️ Furthermore, on August 2nd, the images depict a new configuration of the chromosphere with active regions harboring powerful sunspots. These sunspots are actually areas of intense magnetic activity, where the temperature is lower than that of their surroundings. They can be the site of solar flares and intense solar events.🔬 The study of the chromosphere and its properties is of utmost importance for our overall understanding of solar activity and its implications for our planet.📸 We are delighted to share this captivating mosaic with you, showcasing the dynamic and exquisite beauty of the Sun. Join us in this thrilling exploration of our star that illuminates our days and guides our existence.#Astronomy #Sun #Chromosphere #HydrogenAlpha #SolarDynamics #Astrophotography #SolarEruptions #SolarProminences #Sunspots #SolarMosaic
