Description

This warped and S-shaped galaxy was imaged over 3-nights earlier this month at my favorite campsite at Mount Laguna.  The campgrounds opened a couple weeks later this year than usual, but it was still below freezing in the early morning hours.  First night of imaging had nearly perfect conditions, with the seeing becoming more average over the next two nights.  Needless to say, this is an extremely interesting galaxy that is approximately 52 million light-years distant.  I look forward to someday in the future imaging it with more aperture.  The small grouping of galaxies also captured in this image is the Hickson Compact Group #56.
