Description

The Tarantula Nebula NGC2070 is the largest and most violent star-forming region known in the whole Local Group of galaxies. Intense radiation, stellar winds and supernova shocks energize the nebula glow and shape the spidery filaments. Its massive stars are relatively young, ranging from just a few million years to a few tens of millions of years. If only 1,270 light years away like the Orion Nebula, it would take up around 30 degrees of the sky, and this field would cover almost half of the sky.

Captured using the Esprit 120 with 0.65x focal reducer, for a focal ratio of f/4.5.
I have attempted to bring out the complexity of broader nebulosity in the region.

Palette blend used for nebulosity:
Red = 0.5 SII + 0.5 Ha
Green = 0.5 Ha + 0.5 OIII
Blue = OIII

Thanks for looking, and clear skies.
