Description

Dear all,

I've put some effort in processing the data we gathered on NGC5005.

Unfortunately, the data is not very good, but I think the image is still worth sharing - especially as the kids and I have developed a new passion: identifying far away DSOs in our images.
In our M63 image (https://astrob.in/dkv52p/E/), we were able to identify an object 1.67 billion light years away.

In this image, we identified PGC2095155 (at the bottom of the image - pls. see Revision B with annotations), which (according to  http://atlas.obs-hp.fr/hyperleda/) has a distance modulus of µ=39.67 ± 0.02.
According to the math I've outlined in the description of the M63 image, this equals 2.80 ± 0.03 billion lightyears.
The kids have already been impressed when I looked up that Stephan's Quintet is 330 million lightyears away, but this is 8.5x as far away!!!

Hope you  like the image and CS
Timo
