Description

Just to the west of the wonderful Dragons of Ara nebula, is the Dragon's Egg nebula; a rather wonderful DSO in its own right.

A little further west still, lies RCW105 which is well... not so wonderful?

Rather faint and somewhat touched by the ugly stick, it is not hard to see why there is less than a page of images of this object on AB.    Less the Dragon's Egg and more the Dragon's Dung???

Nevertheless I gave it my best shot and, after two full nights on this DSO, I am quite happy (not ecstatic) with the result.

The nebula has a number of rather beautiful dark lanes and cometary globules.  The strong  ionization front near the centre is also interesting.

Indeed, I now think of this a less the Dragon's Dung nebula and more the "Conception" Nebula.  Can see a spermatozoa wriggling its way through a cosmic womb.

Perhaps I need a break.
