Description

This was the first outing with my new Asi2600 duo camera. I used my C8 instead of my usual Esprit 150 because I had plans to image some galaxies. Once I had all most of my equipment set up and tried to attach my new camera to my C8 I realized I hadn’t brought the 54mm to 48mm adapter. One of my imaging buddies had some gaffers tape so I took up the extra space with tape and screwed on the camera, sort of. I also had a defective power cable attached to my Asiair, but I was getting data and controlling an Asiair anyway. It turned out that I had actually tapped into my friend Lester’s Asiair, not mine,  and I was slewing his telescope around while he was trying to image a target. There were some swear words. Finally James, my friend with the gaffers tape figured out what was going on and we fixed the issue with a functioning power cable.

By the time I got everything sorted it was almost midnight and I had wasted at least two and a half hours of imaging time. I wanted to get something so I got 36 minutes of M3 instead of a galaxy. Needles to say there was a fair amount of tilt with my low tech camera attachment method but it still worked, kind of.

At least I know the camera works and having the guide sensor in the same place and the imaging sensor makes things a bit simpler.
