Description

This image probably marks the end of my 2023 astrophotography efforts. I though about capturing this object for the past couple of years with this exact framing... so this has been a long time coming.

To me it resonates with the imaginative world of Saint-Exupéry's "Le Petit Prince," particularly with the prominent star cluster right above the running man... or should I say Le Petit Prince...
I don't know why but that is the first thing I thought of when researching and framing this object. I grew up with my mum reading me those stories and I vividly remember these moments.

Here is an image of one of Antoine Saint Exupéry drawings which are now in the Public Domain.

Capturing NGC 1977 was a significant challenge due to the unpredictable cloud cover... Lets be frank the weather in Melbourne in 2023 has been horrendous and I cannot wait to be able to setup in a remote observatory one day when I can afford it...

This reflection nebula, part of the Orion complex, is very well loved here on Astrobin and is known for its blue hues, caused by the scattering of starlight off the dust particles.

I took this image from a Bortle 2 zone (Venus Bay about 2.5h frMelbourne) which allowed me to capture the nebula in LRGB, something I avoid doing from the city.
