Description

M16 a.k.a Eagle Nebula, NGC 6611,  or Star Queen Nebula, is a part of diffuse emission nebula IC 4703. A region of active current star formation ~5700 ly away in the constellation Serpens.

The famous "Pillars of Creation", a large region of star formation can also be seen. Its small dark pockets are believed to be protostars (Bok globules). These columns are composed of interstellar hydrogen gas and dust, which act as incubators for new stars.

Data is from iTelescope.net premium image set, taken from a Planewave CDK 20" with SBIG 16803 camera and filters, dates unknown, probably February-March 2022.

Image is combined RGB and SHO (27h 30m) with an attempt to have RGB stars. SHO channels were added to the RGB image. Frames
RGB  6:6:6 x 300s
