Description

After a really long time of clouds I finally got a night with clear skies. These are the first results of shooting with my new DIY harmonic drive mount that I have decided to name the OpenHarmony Mount.

Here you can see the Christmas Tree cluster, an open cluster of stars located within all the nebulous gasses of NGC 2264. These stars are fairly young, and were formed between 1 and 4 million years ago from the surrounding molecular cloud. The open cluster is home to at least 600 stars. This was a total of 66 shots of 3 mins each.

These results were obtained with an average guiding error of 0.62 arcsecs which is extremely good performance. I will be fine tuning the mount and design which will be released as an open source project, as well as pre-made kits for a very fair price.

Feel free to DM me for more details.
