Description

The Spaghetti Nebula, which I affectionately refer to as the hidden ruby between Taurus and Auriga, boasts an elliptical shape and filamentous internal structure. What's most astonishing is that it spans nearly 3 degrees across the sky, equating to six full moons in size. This supernova remnant formed approximately 40,000 years ago and is situated about 3,000 light-years away, having expanded to a size of 150 light-years.

Capturing this faint object was a significant challenge, especially considering the less than ideal astronomical photography conditions (a Bortle class 4 sky). To obtain sufficient and quality signals, I spent over 120 hours at my rooftop observatory across 25 clear nights over a period of two months. After careful selection, I stacked 100 hours of frames and added 10 hours of RGB star point signals to make the overall image more natural and comfortable to view, resulting in what I consider my most satisfying piece since starting astrophotography.

Thanks to the wide field of view afforded by the FSQ106 telescope after reduction, this shoot was able to reveal the entire structure of this immense supernova remnant to everyone. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
